Happy Easter!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!  My family had a wonderful day that started with an egg hunt and baskets filled with way too much candy that will rot their teeth and toys that probably will never be touched again after today, but it was all worth it for a morning full of smiles.  After the kids found all the eggs that were hidden in the yard we rushed to get ready for church within a half an hour.  Our church service was great and it’s so good to really take a moment and remember what this day is really about.  I made sure to take some time with my kids and make sure that they realize what Easter is all about too.  There were so many things that made today great but the best was spending time with my family and being able to make my kids happy.  Later in the day my mom came over for dinner and we dragged her out to take a family picture, which I think is one of the very first we have with all 5 of us.

Happy Easter from my family to yours!  =)

What a day!

Today was one of those days! If you’re a mom then you know the kind of day I’m talking about. It was a no nap, cry all day, runny nose, don’t let mom work, spilled juice all over the car, two poopy diapers at the same time kind of day. Both my kids started to get colds today so they were so cranky and wanted me to hold them constantly. My two year old refuses to take naps unless I stay in his room with him because he thinks there are monsters. My baby is cutting all his teeth at the same time and to top that off he falls on the tile floor and bumps his head about five times a day because he and my two year old chase each other around and love to wrestle.  I had so much work to do today and luckily I got most of it done.  Unluckily a lot of it involved driving around with cranky kids.  By the time my husband got off work I wanted to just lock myself in my room and hide. But I couldn’t because we had an appoinment with someone who stood us up.  I won’t even get started on that.  Seriously, WHAT A DAY!

So after we were stood up we came home and I let the kids loose in the yard and grabbed my camera for some good old therapy. These are the moments that make these kind of days worth it.

To all my blog readers out there. . . .

I’m SO sorry I’ve been missing in action lately but I have been working WAY too hard.  I’m still working on the new website which hopefully will be coming in April.  We’re getting close, I promise.  I’ve also been working on some special shoots.  And Cindy if you’re reading this you’ll be happy to see that I finally got these shots without being chased away by police.  Loooong story for those who don’t know what I’m talking about, but involves the beautiful mustard flower field and a mean man who chased away a couple of mom’s with babies and cameras, like we were really going to start some trouble.  Anyway, I found another field that wasn’t surrounded by “No Trespassing” signs.

I feel like I’ve really neglected the blog lately so I’m going to try to start posting more often, even if it’s just random stuff.  So here are a couple of sneak peek shots from our fun little shoot the other day.  This first one is one of my new favorite pictures!

Brand New

I love shooting newborns.  I honestly have to say that there is nothing sweeter and more innocent than a brand new baby.  They are so tiny and delicate and they make the sweetest little noises.  This little girl was one of the sweetest babies I’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph.  She slept like an angel and easily moved into every pose I wanted to put her in.  She also didn’t even have an accident on my brand new pink chair or any of the blankets, I think that is a record!! =)

Lisa and Aaron, thanks again for having me take your adorable daughters pictures.  I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek.

“See! We HAVE to have a little girl!”

Is exactly what I said to my husband when this little angel got out of the car in her adorable black and white polka dot dress.  I love baby girl clothes more than anything in the world and every time I have a session with a girl wearing cute clothes I get baby girl fever.  Don’t get me wrong, I love having boys!  I think at heart I’m more of a girly girl than a tom boy but I really do love baseball and cars and I really love the fact that my two year old is into rock music and plays air guitar.  I love boy stuff!  But there’s nothing like a sweet little girl in pigtails and a polka dot dress.

Here’s a sneak peek at one of my favorite little girls, Rylee who I’ve been photographing since she was in her mommy’s belly.  =)

hello spring

I’ll be honest, I really don’t like to blog.  I can never think of what to write even though when I log on I know exactly what I want to say, I always go blank once I begin to type.  Anyway, I do have a couple important things I have to write on the blog.

First, I just want to let you all know that this is probably the last week to be able to get Eater pictures in.  Easter is coming up so fast I just can’t beleive it.  I did a session today for Rylee, one of my favorite little girls and I will post those probably tomorrow but I just want to say that I love shooting in flower fields.  Unfortunately these mustard flowers dry up quickly and will probably be gone by the time Easter rolls around.  It’s a bummer they don’t last all year.

Second, I will be out of town the week after next.  I’ll be heading to Vegas for WPPI (a photographers convention) for the second year.  I’m really excited for Vegas this year not only because I’m going to get to learn a bunch of new things  but also because this is the first time in the last three times I’ve been there that I will not be pregnant.  So I will actually get to have a good time.  On the top of my list is playing lots of poker and riding the New York, New York roller coaster (is that nerdy?) =).  Next on my list is attending the Trade show which is the best way for me to find fun new vendors to help make my job better and easier.  I cannot wait!  =)

Oooh, and I almost forgot.  I will be launching a new website (hopefully) before the end of the month!!   I can’t wait for my new look, you will all love it I’m sure!  And I will be having new prices (for the better for you) and new contests, and of course a special to celebrate the launch of the new site.

I leave you with a couple pictures of my boys in the mustard field.

Make a wish

If you wish hard enough for something sometimes your wish comes true. I have been dreaming about a field like this for years, it has been my dream as a photographer to shoot in a field of long yellow flowers. Well, my search is over and finally my wish for a perfect flower field has come true. You’ll be seeing more pictures from this location soon. This particular shot was taken at the wedding I shot on Friday of a few of the beautiful Flower Girls.
