Haven

Yesterday I took a trip out to L.A. to see a fellow photographer friend and her new baby girl.  I always get nervouse when other photographers ask me to take pictures of them or their kids, I don’t know why, maybe I just feel like I’m always being watched.  But needless to say Haven’s mom needed my help and I was there no questions asked.  Haven’s older brother Angel just had a liver, bowel and pancreas transplant about a month ago and his family had to relocate to L.A. to be closer to the hospital for his recovery.  We all know how much work it takes to have a baby but then add all the other stress of a sick child and moving to a new place without all the comforts of home, Sarah you are definitely Super Mom!  You can read more about Sarah’s oldest son Angel, here.

My best friends baby

Meet Arion, he is my very good friend’s little boy and beleive it or not but this is the first picture I’ve ever taken of him.  Not only the first but the only, he just didn’t like the camera and I didn’t want to scare him too much so I kept the camera out of his face most of the day.  Hopefully it won’t be the last time I get to take his picture, he’s such a darling little guy and doesn’t he look so much like Zakk?!  Arion and Gavin are the same age by less than a month and I have a feeling they’ll grow up to be the best of friends!

Three little darlings

I have been a bad blogger.  But it’s wedding season people.  I haven’t had a break!  But the next couple weeks I will have a little less workload on my plate and will be catching up.  Once school starts in a couple weeks I will be a much better blogger, I also won’t be obsessing over which preschool to put Gavin in.  I have visited about 15 schools in the last two weeks and today we finally found a winner.  I will have to start working a lot more though to pay for it.  ;)  So if you’re thinking about having a session with me, now’s a great time!!

I promised mom a sneak peek from this session last week and I am so sorry it’s taken so long.  Seriously though I think that my biggest problem, and I guess it’s really not a problem, but it is having too many good pictures to choose from to post on the blog.  I spend close to an hour just trying to choose my favorites and then I realize that they’re all my favorites.  I also always want mom to be surprised when the gallery goes up so I don’t like giving too much away on the blog.

“Where is baby Mikey?”

It’s so much fun doing maternity sessions when there is an old sister or brother, especially when the older sibling is a toddler.  It’s fun but hard to get the right shots.  I think I asked little Leia, “where is baby Mikey?” about 100 or more times in an hour.  Mom probably said the same thing about 101 times.  =)

This family is soon going to go down in the books as “most photographed by me” winner!  With Leia and the new baby on the way I know that I’ll be seeing a lot of them!  But I couldn’t be more happier!!  It is the absolute best to become friends with my clients and even better to have a job where I feel like I’m spending time with my friends rather than just working.

Imee, I know that you said no pictures of you by yourself but I couldn’t resist because you looked so cute here!  I can’t wait to see you as soon as that little guy is born!!

Ocean and Family

First I have to appologize for not posting this sooner.  It was so hard to choose images to blog because there were so many that I loved.  Second I just have to say how much I love one year olds!  They are so much fun and so full of life.  Ocean will be turning one very soon and will be having a big first birthday bash which is why I was called out for a photo shoot.  This family was so much fun to shoot especially the two darling boys.

Enjoy the sneak peek!

Baby Aydin

This little guy was so good!  He slept through the entire session without any fuss, he was the most perfect little model.  He reminded so much of my little Zakk when he was a newborn.  I feel like Zakk was this age last week, I can’t believe how fast time goes and that my littlest baby is already one and walking and wrestling with his older brother.

I just adore this baby!  Enjoy the sneak peek!

Sorry if you haven’t heard from me, I was on vacation

Well. . . . not really vacation, but I was away for the length of a vacation and I was sleeping in a bed other than my own.  Last week I went into the Emergency Room because I was feeling very flu-lke, dizzy and having horrible stoumach pains.  I drove myself to the hospital and couldn’t believe that I made it alive because I felt so dizzy.  After running blood tests and taking X-rays they found that my Gallbladder was swollen and very infected.  The nurse in the ER told me that they were going to admit me and would probably treat me with Antibiotics because at my age surgery would be a last resort.  So I went to bed that night feeling okay.  After all, I’d never had surgery and I was scarred to death of it!  The next morning I was rudely awoken at 6:00 am by the surgeon telling me that I would probably go into surgery in a few hours to have my Gallbladder removed.

Anyway, to make a long story shorter they did remove my Gallbladder and the doctor told me that he’d never seen one like mine before.  I’m not so sure if that was supposed to make me feel worse but it did!   They were supposed to let me go home the next day but I awoke with a high fever and chest pains so more tests and X-rays were ordered and my heart was monitored for the next three days.  The worst part of being in the hospital was not being hooked up to IV’s all day and night, not having to have my blood drawn every four hours, and not even the seriously uncomfortable bed.  No, the worst part was being on a strictly liquid diet for almost a week.  Anyone who knows me knows how much I love food so you know how hard that part was for me!  Okay, maybe I’m being overdramatic about the food, the real worst part was not seeing my kids for so long.

I’m recovering well now and I’m back home resting.  I am slowely but surely trying to return emails and phone calls from my time away.  I want to apologize if any one’s phone call or email has been overlooked.  Things will be back to normal soon I hope.

Thank you to everyone who has sent emails or called wishing me good thoughts and sending prayers.  I appreciate that so much!  =)

Random Ramblings

It’s been a very busy week here in the Sweet Baby Photo Studios.  I’ve taken a small break from working for Father’s Day weekend and for my boy’s first day of preschool.  That’s right, Gavin started preschool on Tuesday morning.  I think this was the most proud moment I have felt as a mother so far!  He was so excited for school and he did a great job!  He didn’t even cry when I left which made me so happy, I’m just so glad that he is such a strong and confident kid.  Today he is sick and missing his second day of school with a fever of 102.4. =(

Here is a picture of Gavin on his first day of school and a couple of Zakk on the day he turned one!

Happy First Birthday Zakk!

My baby is ONE! I can’t even believe that he’s a year old already. It seriously feels like this time has flown by in the blink of an eye. We had a very fun and relaxing party at home to celebrate with some of my closest friends and family. We also invited a clown to come and do games for the kids. The face painting was such a hit and the kids all looked sooo cute!! Zakk loved his cake and would have eaten every bite if I would have let him, I also would have eaten the entire cake if there weren’t other guests there. Here are a few pictures from Zakk’s birthday. . . just don’t mind the ugly ones of me. . . just keep in mind that the camera adds, like, 20 pounds. =)

Enjoy!

The Big Brother!

What a fun session I had today with Owen and his mommy! Owen is going to be a big brother in August so I went out to get some shots of the little bun in the oven and of course the new big brother. Owen is just one of the cutest little guys ever. Mom wanted to get some shots for her husband for Father’s Day which I think is such a sweet idea. It made me start thinking that maybe I need to do something good for my husband for Father’s Day. The only idea I have so far is a card, anyone have any better thoughts?

Anyway, enjoy the sneak peek Liz! I hope your hubby loves the pictures and that you and he have a wonderful Father’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

First of all I want to wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day! Second, I want to thank everyone who entered the Mother’s Day contest. I seriously don’t think that I’ve ever cried so much while reading emails. Some of the stories I couldn’t even read all the way through at one time because I was just so touched. I have so much respect for all the mother’s who entered the contest. It was a very hard job to choose a winner so I decided to cheat a little bit. Since I’m the judge I get to make my own rules, so everyone who entered will receive a free session. That’s right, I am in a very giving mood after my heart has been touched so much from all your stories. Although, there is one story that stood out to me above the others and made me cry longer and harder than I have in a long time. This person is going to receive a free custom designed session and also a $100 print and product credit.

The winner of the custom session and $100 product credit is Lori. Lori was entered into this contest by her friend Kristin and I have to say that I have so much respect and am so thankful to Kristin for entering her good friend in the contest. Kristin and I both feel that Lori is an amazing mother! Here is the story that Kristin shared with me:

Hi Erin,
I would like to enter Lori Coble into the Mother’s day contest - if you live in Orange County I’m sure you are aware that she and her mom were rear-ended by a semi last May and lost three of the most beautiful children I have seen. Despite her and her husband Chris’s grief they have done so much to keep their children’s memories alive by attending fundraising events, speaking publicly about their loss and most importantly, fighting for our safety on the roads by being involved in the Truck Safety Coalition. Lori and her husband are now expecting triplets due any time now and I would think they’d love a photo session with their new little ones when they arrive. This Mother’s day will be a difficult one for them as they welcome their new little ones so near the one year mark of their loss - please help to make it a little more blessed by choosing Lori as the winner of your contest. Thank you for your consideration.

I have no words for how sorry I am for their loss and for how happy I am for their new additions who just came into this world about a week ago. Kristin has notified me that the triplets are doing well, I am so excited to meet them very soon.

Congratulations Lori and all the other amazing mother’s who entered the contest! Kristin, please email me as soon as possible with Lori’s contact information. Thank you again for participating.

I’m an Aunt!

Welcome baby Dylan Xavier Thomas Emmett.  This weekend I went out to Berkeley to see my new baby nephew.  It’s so amazing to be an Aunt and to see this little baby boy who looks just like my little brother.  These pictures were taken when little baby Emmett was only 4 days old.  He is so adorably tiny and sweet!

mother’s day contest

Mother’s day is one of my favorite days of the year. Not only because I get to be pampered by the men in my life but also because I am able to show my mother and mother-in-law how grateful I am to have them in my life. One of my favorite things about all holidays is giving, I don’t get excited about receiving gifts but I get all giddy when I’m giving someone a gift that I know they will love!

So this Mother’s Day I’ve decided that I want to give away a free custom session to one lucky mother! The rules of the contest are as follows; email me a picture of you with your little one(s) and write a little story about why you deserve to win a free photo session and why you are such an amazing mother. This is not only a contest for yourself, if you’re a giving person like I am you can always enter one of your friends or family members into this contest. If you don’t have a picture don’t worry about that, I’m mostly looking for the best story.

To find out more details about your prize, see the post prior to this one that explains what a custom session is. This will be so much fun! I can’t wait to start reading all your stories. Please send the emails to erin@sweetbabyphoto.com and in the subject please write “mother’s are great!”

The winner will be announced on Mother’s Day!
