Miss Eva Take Two

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting part two of Eva’s session. If you look down a few posts you’ll see a couple pictures from part one. Sometimes it takes babies a little longer to warm up to the camera but you must have patience.  I think the patience really paid off because we got some awesome pictures. The nice fall weather and beautiful light during sunset made for a great evening session. Eva seemed a bit more used to the camera this time around, and as always she was dressed so cute.

Happy Birthday Gavin!

My baby turned two yesterday! It was such a great day and he had so much fun. I took him to Disneyland and it was just the two of us which made it so special. I was able to devote all my attention to just him, that’s something I haven’t been able to do since Zakk was born. It was a perfect day with great weather and hardely any lines to get on the rides. I couldn’t imagine him having a better second birthday. On Sunday we’re going to celebrate with a little family party so stay tuned for more pictures from his party.

These pictures were taken with my point and shoot Canon Powershot.  It’s such a great little camera to take along with me when I don’t want to haul around my 5D.

Mini Sessions at O2B Me in Rancho Cucamonga

O2B Me is a really cute boutique in Rancho Cucamonga with very hip styles for your babies and toddlers. New management just took over the store and they redid the whole interior, it looks so awesome! This Saturday, September 22nd at 10:00 AM they are having a grand re-opening party. I will be there doing mini sessions from about 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The mini session will be no charge, you’ll just purchase any prints that you’d like afterward (print prices are listed under the details section on www.sweetbabyphoto.com). I will spend about 10 minutes per child and do just a couple poses. I will be happy to spend more time with you if there is no one else waiting for their pictures to be taken. This is a great time to get some quick portraits of your children for the Fall and Christmas season, so come dressed up if you’d like or buy something cute to wear at the store.

Come on by and see me this Saturday!

O2B Me is located in Rancho Cucamonga off Foothill in the Chuck E Cheese shopping center. The nearest cross street is Hellman.

My baby’s turning two!

I can’t believe that it’s been two years since I had my son Gavin. I remember like it was yesterday being so huge and pregnant and thinking that he was never going to come. Actually the 16th was my due date and I was so upset that he was overdue. I wanted him to come early because we all know how insanely hot the month of September is. Especially two years ago! And I just couldn’t stand being big and pregnant in the heat! Two years ago today I went into the doctor and I remember complaining about him being overdue. The doctor told me to choose my date of induction, and this really freaked me out. I know it sounds crazy but I wanted to feel what it was like to go into labor unexpectedly at a crazy time of night like you see on t.v. and in movies. But I didn’t want to wait much longer I chose the 19th which was the soonest they could get me in and I was supposed to go in at 5:00 in the morning. The night of the 17th I actually did start have contractions and the hurt like nothing I ever felt before in my life. When I went into the hospital they told me that nothing was happening and I wasn’t really in labor so they sent me home. I was so mad I wanted to scream at all the nurses. I was scheduled to be induced practically the next day but they sent me home!? So I went home and for the next 24 hours I suffered through contractions that weren’t doing anything and finally at 1:00 AM on the 19th I went back in and told them to just give me the Pitocin now and get on with it. Luckily they agreed and got me going and shortly after I got my epidural. Which, if you’re expecting and can’t decide to get it or not. GET IT! It is the drug straight from heaven! Anyway, long story short I had Gavin that day at 10:47 AM. It was a pretty easy and good delivery and it was seriously the happiest day in my life. I can’t even explain how happy I was to hold my first baby in my arms.

Now, where did the time go? He’s turning two already!!

This post wasn’t even supposed to be a birth story, so I’m sorry I went off track. I just really wanted to share his two year old portraits that I took of him last week in Pasadena. I love Pasadena, there are so many awesome old buildings and cool textures to use. Unfortunately Gavin was not in the best mood that day, but I still got some cute pictures of him. Look how big he is!! He’s still the little 6 pd. 6 oz. newborn baby to me…. I don’t know where this big boy came from! =)

Miss Eva

One of the things that makes my job so fun is a challenge.  Eva is turning two in October and most everyone knows that this is one of the hardest ages to “control”.  Two year olds just have their minds made up and don’t want to do anything but what they want.  I especially know this age well because my son is about to turn two in just a few days.  Little Eva had her mind made up that she did not want to have pictures taken.  Despite that fact, we got some great shots of Eva that really show her beauty and personality.  She has the most amazing hair I’ve ever seen, it’s so thick and curly.  Here are two of my favorite shots of the day.  I got some of her smiling that are cute but I thought these two shots just show her true beauty so well.

Enjoy the sneak peek!

Double the fun!

I’ve heard from other photographers that twins can be so hard to photograph, especially babies.  I totally love a challenge and couldn’t wait to test the waters and see what I could do with two adorable babies.  It was a bit harder than I thought.  It’s easy to get one baby to look at me and smile but to get both to do it at the same time was a little tricky.  This session consisted of two days and over 600 shots fired to get the results that I wanted.  I’m sure that everyone will agree that it was worth it.  Jim and Summer, I hope you love these and I hope you will feel that the time and the long drive was worth it.  And thanks again for letting me play out all my visions, I had so much fun!  Can’t wait to see you guys again very soon.

Without further ado, here are the beautiful twins, Ava and Sophia.

What do you think?

I redesigned the look of my blog!  If you can’t tell I’m a person who gets bored with things very quickly, so I wanted a fresh new look for Sweet Baby Blog.

Please comment here and let me know what you think of the new look. If you don’t like something, let me know what you’d change about it. To my surprise a lot of people have been telling me lately that they read the blog all the time so don’t be shy, I want to hear from anyone and everyone who reads my blog….. at least so I don’t feel like I’m just talking to myself all the time.

Here’s a picture of my little guy so that you’ll know what the new picture posts will look like.

I’ve been tagged!

What does this mean? I’m not really too sure. I’ve seen this on a couple other photographers Blogs and what I gather from it is that it’s kind of a chain thing going around where once you’re tagged you have to tag other photographers on their blogs and it just keeps going and going. I was tagged by a very talented photographer, Deanna Hall. Thanks Deanna!

The rules are as follows:
Post the rules before you give the facts. Post eight random facts about yourself. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag eight people and list their names. Leave the people you tagged a comment on their blog, letting them know that they’ve been tagged.

um….. I’m not a very interesting person but here goes nothing…..

1. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City. I so love the snow and miss it so much but I hate the cold.

2. I love to eat! I can probably eat more than any person I’ve ever known, I just have a huge appetite.

3. I love to watch scary movies even though they completely terrify me and I can’t walk through my house without all the lights on or go to the restroom with the door closed after the movie is over.

4. I took kickboxing and Muay Thai classes for over five years, I also took Jiu Jitsu classes for one year. So I’m not someone you want to mess with.  Just kidding….. well kinda.

5. I can only eat candy in even numbers, and also I can only have volume levels on even numbers. If someone sets the volume on the tv to an odd number I have to change it immediately or I can’t stop thinking about it. I know, it’s crazy! I think it’s a little bit of obsessive complulsiveness.

6. I make up silly songs to sing to my kids. But of course only when I’m alone with them. I have sliped up a couple times though and done it in front of my husband and I get so embarassed. And actually I’ve done it before at sessions when I’m trying to get kids to smile, sometimes I wonder what parents think when I do that.

7. I have a thing for lip gloss. It drives me crazy if my lips are dry. I don’t like lipstick though, only lipgloss that smells really good. I love the kinds from Victoria’s Secret and Lipsmackers (I’ll always be a teenager at heart).

8. I am very closterphobic (is that spelled right?)

See….. not very interesting, surprisingly it’s hard to think of things about myself.

Here is my list of 8 people. These are 8 photographers who have always inspired me.

Louis Palos (my hubby), Amy Wenzel, Jessica Claire, Tara Whitney, Rachel Devine, Peta Mazey, Leah Zawadzki, Shannon Stewart

Under Construction

The blog is getting a face lift….. please come back soon for a whole new look!

Jilly’s turning one!

Today I had the pleasure of shooting more first birthday portraits. This time it was little Jillian, who was actually the first newborn I ever photographed. She was also one of the first actual clients I had. So her birthday is also very special to me. I opened my first website just a couple weeks after she was born. I can’t believe how fast time goes and how big she’s gotten. She definitely doesn’t look like the same baby I saw last year.

Happy first birthday Jilly!

Rylee is turning one!

If you read the blog often you’ve probably seen this little girl before. I shot her pictures when she was two days old in the hospital, when she was one month old, four months old, and today. My husband also shot her parents wedding pictures and we both shot their maternity pictures, so this family is very special to us. Every time I see Rylee she just gets cuter and cuter. I just can’t believe how big she is now and how beautiful she is.

It was so great to see you today Nicole, Russ, and Rylee!
